Isaac Cofie recovers from injury; joins Sporting Gijon teammates in training

Midfielder Isaac Cofie has joined his Sporting Gijon teammates in training after recovering from injury.The Ghanaian has been on the treatment table since January 15 after picking a muscular injury in the 3-0 defeat against Valencia in the Copa Del Rey.The 27-year-old consequently missed matches against AD Alcorcon, Deportivo La Coruna, Extremadura UD, Osasuna and last Sunday's 1-0 loss at UD Las Palmas.Cofie however joined José Alberto López's men in training on Monday after he was given the green light by the team's medical staff.He joined the Rojiblancos on a two-year deal on a free transfer after ending his six years stay at Italian Serie A club Genoa.Cofie has netted one goal in 17 games in all competitions for the side.

Former Zambian FA President Kalusha Bwalya resumes CAF duty

Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalusha Bwalya has resumed his duties with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after world football governing body Fifa lifted his two-year ban on appeal.This means that Kalusha remains a CAF Executive Committee member until his tenure expires this year.Before the ban last year, Kalusha was President of the CAF Technical and Development Committee, now headed by Tanzanian Leodegar Tenga.However, there are two vacancies, of which any could be filled by Kalusha at the discretion of the Caf President, available on the Organising Committee of African Nations Championship and the CAF Emergency Committee, both recently vacated by Liberian Hassan Musa Bility.The ban from all football activities for violation of Articles 16 (Confidentiality) and 20 (Giving and accepting of gifts and other benefits) of the Fifa Ethics Code had led to Kalusha’s position on the Caf Executive Committee being frozen, pending appeal.Following a successful appeal, Kalusha is set to resume normal business as a member of the CAF Executive Committee when the next meeting takes place.

Ashantigold C.E.O Fredrick Acheampong not convinced by NC's apology letter

Chief Executive Officer of Ashantigold, Fredrick Acheampong says the apology letter by the Ghana Football Association's Normalisation Committee shows they are not remorseful for disrespecting club administrators following the cancellation of the special competition. The Normalisation Committee described owners and administrators of clubs as “selfish, greedy and braggadocios” after pulling out of the competition meant to return football in the country.A disagreement between the two parties led to the Parliamentary select asking the NC to issue an unqualified apology to the club owners for using such words on them.But according to Fredrick Acheampong, the apology does not look like admission of any wrong doing but rather a defence of their action.”Apologizing for what you do wrong doesn’t kill anyone but it seems they won’t apologize,' he told Happy FM.”That letter they brought out as an apology letter is not an apology letter but rather admitting that they did something wrong,” he added.”I will urge premier league clubs to let it go in the interest of Ghana football because I don’t think they will apologize.”If Parliamentary select committee on youth, culture and sports asked them to apologize and they are refusing then I will plead…

Yussif Chibsah wants Asante Kotoko to pick away points in CAF Confederations Cup group

Former captain of Asante Kotoko Yussif Chibsah has urged the team to start picking points on the road ahead of their clash with Nkana FC on Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors face the Nkana Red Devils in the third round of games in the CAF Confederations Cup group stages but are yet to pick a point away from home after losing their opener to Al Hilal in Sudan.With the top two sides the only sides to qualify for the quarter finals, Chibsah reiterated the importance of picking points in away games.”It is a league form so they just have to make sure they always get three points anytime they play at home and try to get a point or all away,” he said.”At the end of the day, the team with the highest points will qualify so winning your games is important. Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Francis Oti Akenteng says coaches from the country are far better than their colleagues on the continent. Ghanaian coaches has been blasted for the national teams poor performances at international competitions with the recent one being coach Jimmy Cobblah.Jimmy Cobblah failed to lead the Black Satellites to the semi finals of the Africa Youth Championship but Oti Akenteng believes the coaches from Ghana are the very best on the continent.“Most of our coaches are good but we have few who have risen to that top level. Comparing Ghana to other African countries, our coaches are far better than them,” he told Happy FM.“We stopped the coaching course here because we got an order from CAF to hold on . It’s not just Ghana but all African countries . NC Special Competition to be reinstated- Patrick Akoto

Spokesperson for the Ghana Premier League clubs, Patrick Akoto has hinted the canceled Special Competition will be reinstated in a week or two after the Premier League clubs, Normalisation  Committee(NC) and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports and Culture held a successful meeting on the issue on WednesdayThe Special Competition was earlier called off after the Normalisatiom Committee and the Premier League clubs failed to agree on the financial details of the competition.Government had allocated  $1.2 million to the NC to kick start local football in the country.”Hopefully within next week or next two weeks we should be able to kick start with the special competition”, Patrick Akoto told Happy FM on the outcome of the meeting.He indicated  that the financial details of the competition which had become a huge problem between the Premier Legaue clubs and the NC were discussed at the meeting.”We touched on the financial breakdowns and fixtures of the special competition.
