Folna kislina je potrebna za tvorbo rde\u010dih krvnih celic in sintezo DNK. Ustrezna koli\u010dina u\u017eivanja hrane, bogate s folati, pomaga pri prepre\u010devanju okvare nevralne cevi pri plodu.
