This caption is probably going to open a can of worms, but if Instagram has taught me anything it\u2019s that if there's something on your mind, then be open and honest about it. __________________________________________________________ A few weeks ago I received a message [from a blogger] telling me 'I didn't actually give a sh** about sustainability and all I cared about was making money from fast fashion brands' and then swiftly blocked me before giving me the chance to reply. This statement annoyed me, not because of what they said, but how they said it. Come on, let\u2019s be a bit nicer. It highlights something that is wrong with the conversation around sustainability at the moment, especially within this space. I feel in order to see change; the conversation needs to start being less aggressive, less preachy and more inclusive. As much we would all love to; we can't all shop sustainably, or independently right now and personally, in order to be inclusive of my audience I'm not ready to altogether boycott our high street. Instead, I want to try and promote the care & longevity of our clothes and the idea believe it or not; if you shop wisely and look after something [even from the high street], it will last. I've got COS pieces that are 5+ years old and still going strong. The term 'fast fashion' is being used to blame brands, which I do partially agree with, but let's not forget it takes two to tango and fashion is as fast as we make it. If you keep consuming, they'll keep producing. I know there's more to this than just consumption, there's environmental factors, fair wages, factory conditions and much more, but while brands are trying to figure this out, let's slow things down a little and cherish the things we are buying. My point of this caption is to say; I do care, but I don't want to exclude people from the conversation. I also don't want to aggressively penalise people for shopping, especially if it\u2019s considered and being cared for. I've just uploaded a video [link in bio.] sharing the things I do to take care of my clothes, although not a direct reaction to the message I received, I thought it was very fitting to relate it to this issue. \u270c\"<\/a><\/p>\n
